Response to Gerard Powers’s Our Moral Duty in Iraq
In response to Gerard Powers’s Our Moral Duty in Iraq, I could not agree with him more. Although I feel that the war is not as unnecessary as a lot of the media and politicians say, I feel that it is our duty now to see it out until the end. If we were to pull out now, regardless of whether going in was justified or not, the world would have another Vietnam situation on their hands. The Iraqi people are far from ready to handle their own problems and would easily crumble and fall back into a chaotic state without international help. At this point we need to be able to fall in behind our troops and see this thing till the end. More people died in the Mexican drug war last year then have died in this entire war on terror and yet the media doesn’t show every death in that conflict. Its time we stopped letting the media tell us what to believe and finish what we have started.

War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning
After reading Chris Hedge’s War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning I am almost confused and perplexed at his point of view. I completely agree with him that humans almost need war to exist and we use it to give life purpose as well as solve problems that are never figured out through demonstration. The part that threw me off though was when he almost in the same sentence likened the United State’s war on terror with the ethic fighting in Bosnia and Kosovo. Maybe I’m wrong but the last time I checked we weren’t slaughtering people based on their background. It is a little extreme to compare killing terrorists to ethic cleansing at any rate.
An Inconvenient Truth Response
In response to Tom Harris’s article I could no more agree with his opinions and his sources opinions on the Inconvenient Truth. Gore’s movie was nothing more then a scare tactic aimed at pushing his agenda. As real scientists stated there was actually no proof behind his claims of global warming. It is a typical use of fear on the public that pushes the masses into doing something that makes no sense once anyone with any expertise looks at it. If this was confined to just Gore it would only be a small problem but most of this capitalist society uses it to sell product and drive ratings up on the news. This forces people to live in fear and makes the global situation look much worse then it is.
